Alfred Gohdes

Alfred Gohdes, chief actuary for pensions consulting at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) in Germany, will be retiring next year.

A well-known figure in the industry, Gohdes will be leaving the consultancy at the end of February 2017, having been at the firm and its predecessors for about 35 years. 

He spent 18 years in Munich building the international benefits consulting practice of what was then Watson Wyatt, before moving to Wiesbaden in 2000.

Originally from South Africa, Gohdes also has experience consulting in the UK, and has held the role of appointed audit actuary for a large Austrian pension fund for many years.

Gohdes will continue to work in pensions following his retirement from WTW, as a consultant advising on individual retirement arrangements .

He will also continue in his role as an active member of the German, European and international actuarial associations, for which he chairs various working groups and committees, such as the actuarial standards committee at the International Actuarial Association.
