TOBAM – The Paris-based quantitative asset manager TOBAM has appointed Rudyard Ekindi as head of marketing. From January 2009 to August 2013, Ekindi was director of investment research for the UK’s National Employment Savings Trust. Before then, he was director at Credit Suisse Asset Management, as a portfolio manager with a focus on quantitative strategies and alternative investments. He began his career as a consultant for KPMG Strategic Risk Management.

BNY MellonJames Day, Stephen Kiely and Paul Cook have joined the EMEA global collateral services team. Day will become managing director and head of securities finance, joining from UBS, where he served as executive director at UBS Investment Bank. Kiely, managing director and head of securities lending sales and business development, joins from Citigroup, while Cook, managing director and head of secured finance sales, joins from Solo Capital.

ValidaKarin Kunrath succeeds Walter Schmoiger as head of asset management on the board. Kunrath was formerly with the Austrian Raiffeisen KAG. Valida confirmed that the group and Schmoiger “mutually decided to end his contract” as board member at Valida. However, for now, he will stay on the board of the BAV Pensionskasse, a subsidiary of the Valida Group.

AXA Investment ManagersShajahan Alam has been appointed a solutions strategist on the UK liability-driven investment team. He joins from Legal & General Investment Management, where he was a manager in the strategic investment and risk management. Before then, he was a senior investment consultant at Towers Watson. He also worked as an investment consultant at Mercer Investment Consulting.

RedingtonMitesh Sheth has joined the manager research team. Sheth has been working as a strategic consultant to the team for the past six months. He was previously director of business innovation and head of fixed income at Henderson Global Investors. Before then, he held senior manager research positions at Towers Watson and Aon Hewitt.

EDHEC-Risk Institute – Five new members have joined the international advisory board. The new members are Carl Bang, CIO at Qatar Foundation Endowment; James Barber, CIO for equities at Russell Investments; Laurent Degabriel, head of investment and reporting at the European Securities and Markets Authority; Jacqueline Loh, deputy managing director at the Monetary Authority of Singapore; and Adriaan Ryder, CIO at QIC.

SchrodersClaire Glennon has been appointed to the UK and Ireland institutional business development team. She joins from Baring Asset Management, where she was institutional relationship director, responsible for corporate and local government defined contribution and defined benefit clients. She joined Barings in 2002.

Rogge Global PartnersDavid Jacob has been appointed chief executive. Most recently, he served as vice-chairman and, prior to that, CIO at Henderson Global Investors. Jacob, who has more than 27 years’ experience in fixed income investing, will be joining Rogge early in 2014.

SVG Investment ManagersJames Law has joined as a global equities analyst, a newly created role. He will primarily assist SVGIM in providing investment advice to new majority owner Hansa Aktiengesellschaft, a Switzerland-based investor and holding company. He joins from HgCapital, where he was a senior associate focusing on mid-market buyouts across the TMT sector.

LipperJake Moeller has been appointed head of UK and Ireland research at Lipper. He joins from Scottish Widows, where he was a senior assessment manager for their internal and third-party funds platforms. Before then, he headed up the internal fund of funds and research team at AIG Life.

Kleinwort BensonArun Lad has been appointed head of London compliance. He joins from UBS Wealth Management, where he has been director of policy and advisory since 2006. Before then, he worked at Lloyds TSB as head of operations and reporting. 

Man GroupDev Sanyal has been appointed non-executive director. He is currently executive vice-president and group chief of staff at BP, where he has held a number of senior financial and line management positions for the past 20 years.
