Deutsche Bank Asset Management (DeAM) has expanded its global institutional fixed income investment team by poaching 16 professionals from Invesco Asset Management's US operation, including chief investment officer for Invesco's worldwide fixed income group, Stephen Johnson. Also Kenneth Bowling, James Guenther and Randy Paas will join DeAM's team. Invesco will sue DeAM's US operation for what it calls an "illegal raid".

Eric Uijen, director of Dutch industrywide scheme, Horeca & Catering, has been appointed to replace Albert Akkerman, head of the railways pension fund, as secretary and board member of Dutch corporate governance platform Eumedion.

BNP Paribas Asset Managment's Frédéric Buzaré will join Brussels-based Dexia Asset Management as global head of fundamental equity management. He previously was responsible for developing expertise in third-party equity selection management, as well as the management of institutional mandates at PNB Paribas AM.

Former Dutch Labour politician, Kris Douma has been appointed as corporate governance officers for Rijswijk, Netherlands-based Mn Services' investment management unit. Until 2002 Douma was a member of parliament and acted as spokesman for the Labour Party (PvdA) on economic globalisation, corporate governance and social responsibility.

HSBC Investments has promoted Cynthia Sweeney Barnes to the new position of global head of sovereigns and supranationals. Sweeney Barnes, who has been with the company since 2001, will remain London-based and will report to Farley Thomas, global head of business development.

Natalie Winter has been appointed as Aberdeen Asset Managers' new client director, in a move to further strengthen the company's UK institutional business.

Anno Bousema has been named director of the Dutch Actuarial Society (AG) as part of the restructuring of the organisation. Previously, Bousema was educational director at the society. AG also appointed vice chairman, Marco Vet, director of business development at insurer Euroko/Achmea, as temporary new chair to replace exiting Roland van den Brink, chief investment officer at the Dutch metal scheme Metalektro.

Swiss alternative investment manager LGT Capital Partners has appointed Adveq's Jürg Burkhard, who will lead LGT's private equity portfolio and risk management activities from Pfäffikon. He will be joined by Alexandre Delos who will focus on European private equity investments.

Marc Bechtel will join Swiss-German quantitative asset manager Vescore from April 1 as a managing director for Germany. Vescore said Bechtel would be based in Munich and, alongside Florian Schepp, co-head its German institutional business. Until April 2006, co-founder Bechtel had been chief marketing executive at UnionPanAgora, a Frankfurt-based peer of Vescore.
