SPKCarola Fornelid has been appointed head actuary at Sweden’s SPK, and has been undertaking the role since the beginning of January. She is replacing Fredrik Palm, who is leaving SPK to focus on his new role as chief actuary at Alecta. Fornelid's previous roles include that of actuary at SPP/Alecta and was also chief actuary at Swedbank Insurance. She is chairman of the Swedish Association of Actuaries.

Moritz ConsultingGerald Moritz, former managing director of Towers Watson Austria and subsequently Mercer Austria has launched his own Vienna-based consultancy, Moritz Consulting GmbH, focusing on occupational pensions and other benefit topics. Moritz will also work with the Austrian branch of the management consultancy Mercuri Urval to gain increased exposure to the market, while helping the Swedish consultancy to broaden its range of services to include occupational pensions.

UMR Corem – The €10.2bn French pension fund has appointed Christian Oyarbide as the successor to outgoing CEO Charles Vaquier. Oyarbide, who has previously worked at La France Mutualiste, will begin work at the beginning of April.

Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Andrew Bastow and Chris Pearce have been named deputy chairmen at the global hedge fund association. Bastow is currently head of government and regulatory affairs and general council at Winton Capital Management, while Pearce is the chief operating officer at Marshall Wace Asia. Additionally, Robert De Rito, head of financial risk management at APG's US operation, has joined the AIMA council as an investor appointee.

Aon HewittDan Morris has joined the investment consulting team after five years as partner at rival Towers Watson. In his previous job, Morris led the London investment strategy team. He has also worked at PwC and HSBC Actuaries and Consultants.

Baring Asset ManagementAngus Woolhouse joins the London office as global head of distribution. Woolhouse, who has previously worked at Gartmore, Invesco and HSBC Asset Management, is replacing George Harvey, retiring in April after 14 years at Barings.

Carmignac GestionMikael Fellbom has been appointed head of the Nordic region. Most recently working in real estate fund management for Corum Asset Management, Fellbom has also worked at Handelsbanken Capital Market and Natixis Securities. He assumes responsibility for the region from Mischa Cornet, who will focus on the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
