Reuters has teamed up with Equant to offer the world’s largest secure internet protocol network to the financial services industry.
A new company will be formed to provide financial services customers with secure, fast, business-to-business internet and telecommunications services, which Reuters says will have high levels of resilience. It will target customers that like the capability and ubiquity of the internet, but need a network specifically tailored to their needs, the company says.
The new company, to be based in New York, will be operational by mid-2000. It will work closely with Tibco Software, to enable the delivery of TIB-based applications over its network, Reuters says.
Meanwhile, Reuters and online financial services intermediary Multex.com have joined hands to offer a financial internet portal for European private investors. A new company, Multex Investor Europe, will be formed, delivering a range of financial decision support tools and broker research from stockbrokers and investment banks to European private investors via the internet. The portal will largely replicate a similar US portal – Multex Investor (www.multexinvestor.com), Reuters says.
