UK - Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has promoted managing director Peter Knez to a newly created position of chief investment officer for global fixed income.

According to a spokesperson at BGI, Knez’s appointment indicates the firm’s desire to expand its fixed income business.

The new CIO first joined BGI in San Francisco as managing director and head of US income research in February 2003.

Knez, a former executive vice president and managing director of fixed income at Lincoln Capital Management , reports to Blake Grossman, BGI’s Co-CEO and to Richard Grinold, advanced strategies and research director.

Commenting on the appointment Grossman said: “Peter has been a key force behind BGI’s active fixed income research program.”
