NETHERLANDS – BNP Paribas Securities Services has hired Fortis Bank’s Marco Homburg for its institutional investor sales team.

Homburg joined the unit’s Amsterdam office two weeks ago. He reports to Dietmar Roessler, head of coverage for institutional investors in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

BNP Paribas said in a statement that Homburg used to be senior sales manager, institutional clients at Fortis and prior to that he used to work for four years at KAS Bank in similar roles. Fortis was not available for comment.

“Marco brings to this role a vast experience of Dutch pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers and banks,” said Dominique Ansiaux, securities services business head.

“With his help we hope to make a major impact in how our securities services business serves the institutional investor market in the Netherlands,” he continued.

BNP Paribas said it has over €2.5trn assets under custody and €420bn assets under administration for about 4,000 funds worldwide.

Earlier this month Fortis appointed Alain Deschenes to the new position of chief information officer to provide “strategy, leadership and management” to information services across the group.
