PORTUGAL- The Spanish presidency compromise proposal on the sensitive issue of quantitative restrictions within the EU occupational pensions directive may be adopted by the Danish presidency.

The Danish replace the Spanish in June and have said they will take over the ‘two tier’ solution proposed by the Spanish.

Speaking at a AEIP conference in Lisbon, Armindo Silva, a senior official at the Commission’s DG for employment, said: “nothing has been decided yet and it is not even certain that anything will be decided by the end of June.

“But the Danish presidency has already made it known that it will be very happy to help resolve the issue if it is not finished in time.”
