IRELAND – The Irish Association of Pension Funds (IAPF) has organised a special seminar of Irish pensions experts to take place this month in order to discuss the problem of taxation and retirement provision.

The meeting, called ‘Taxation of retirement savings – where do we go from here?’ will take place in Dublin on December 13.

The IAPF says the aim of the meeting is to find ways in which the taxation of retirement provision arrangements in Ireland can be simplified.

Though no details on who has been invited and who will speak at the conference are yet available, the core of the attendees’ list will consist of IAPF council and committee members.

Alan Pickering, chairman of the European Federation for Retirement Provision and charged with a similar pensions simplification task by the UK government’s Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), is also due to attend.

Further details will be available on the association’s website in the coming days.
