Montae plans governance centre

NETHERLANDS - Dutch pension fund consultancy Montae is planning to launch a governance centre for pension funds.

The company, which appointed former ING pensions head Jan Nijssen to its executive boars in September last year, announced in a statement it will focus on developing a number of services to support the functioning of the pension fund board.

"The services, on the one hand, will focus on the management capabilities and, on the other, on operational questions," according to the firm.

This moves comes in the light of the new Pension Fund Governance (PFG) law and self-evaluation requirements for pension fund boards in the Netherlands.

Montae has said it will use the Amsterdam-based self-evaluation platform Board Functioning Index, developed for pension funds and headed by Sander Baars, also a director of the new governance centre.

Earlier this year, the company announced Alfred Kool, who left the major Dutch fund PGGM fund in 2005 to start his own communications consultancy business, and Herman Wind, former trade union leader of the Dutch CNV union, would join the Board Functioning Index.
