International derivatives market Eurex is launching eight new sector index futures contracts on European equity indices. The new contracts are based on sector indices of Dow Jones Stoxx 600 and the Dow Jones Euro Stoxx.
They cover the banks, technology, telecommunications and healthcare sectors in the euro zone and European area, and are designed along the same lines as existing Dow Jones Euro Stoxx 50 futures, the exchange said.
Eurex said it was launching the products in response to the growing need for exchange-traded sector derivatives. Another reason behind the launch was the fact that the mix of investments in certain sectors of the economy was becoming increasingly international, it said.
Paris options exchange Monep also said it was introducing 10 new futures contracts on five sub-indices of the Dow Jones Stoxx and Dow Jones Euro Stoxx – the banks, energy, technology, telecommunications and healthcare sector sub-indices.
