EUROPE - Fidelity Investments has named Achim Gloger as business development director for pan-Europe in its institutional fixed income team to help as clients move into bonds.

“We continue to see increasing interest in our fixed income products both here in the UK and across continental Europe,” said David Stewart, president of Fidelity’s European institutional business.

Gloger joins from Barclays Capital’s European fixed income distribution team, Fidelity said. “Achim’s experience of the sell-side market gives him a unique perspective when discussing products and allocation issues with trustees and consultants,” Stewart said.

“At a time when more and more investors rebalance their asset allocation in favour of bonds, his arrival signals Fidelity’s continued support of this important asset class.”

Fidelity said Gloger would “drive the expansion into Europe while consolidating the firm’s position in the critical UK market”.

Gloger’s hire follows a series of new hires at Fidelity. Recent appointments include Caren Naylor as associate director of defined contributions product development, Julian Webb as head of business development for the UK DC business and Martin Harris as managing director of UK Defined Benefits.
