UK - Publishing company Macmillan has appointed Hymans Robertson to provide investment consulting services to its pension fund.

The consultancy firm will provide the £85m (€98.3m) Macmillan Limited Pension and Life Assurance Plan with advice on its investment strategy in addition to helping the trustees and investment sub-committee with manager selections and the structure of the scheme.

Catherine Fleming, secretary to the Pension and Life Assurance Plan of Macmillan Limited, said: "We were very impressed by Hymans Robertson's technical knowledge and process driven approach, and I am confident that they will help the trustees to make good investment decisions."

Meanwhile, Mark Freeman, senior investment consultant at Hymans Robertson, said: "These are challenging times for pension scheme trustees, particularly those with actuarial valuations on the horizon. Therefore, we believe it is increasingly important that trustees do not lose sight of their long-term objectives, whilst still seeking to take advantage of market opportunities that might arise."
