UK - The UK's International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) has confirmed the appointment of Christoper Ailman, the chief investment officer (CIO) at the giant California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS).

Ailman was appointed during a board meeting last week, when the Network decided to split its Finance and General Purposes Committee.

He will now chair the finance part of the committee during a one-year term, a spokeswoman for the organisation confirmed to IPE today.

CalSTRS, one of a group of American pension funds that are protagonists in US corporate governance activism, has been quoted as saying it wants to increase its activism on the international governance scene with move.

The ICGN is a network of global investors and money managers that work on shareholders' rights, international accounting standards and securities regulation.
