Lehman poaches Morgan Stanley star

GERMANY - Lehman Brothers has boosted the coverage of its European Pensions Advisory Group with the appointment of Nigel Cresswell in Frankfurt.

Cresswell was a director in Morgan Stanley's European Pensions Group, responsible for offering solutions to corporates and institutional investors in Germany and Switzerland.

He joins a growing team at Lehman Brothers, headed up by Alan Rubenstein and his deputy, Gareth Derbyshire, both of whom previously worked with Cresswell at Morgan Stanley.

The group has already lured Catherine Claydon from Goldman Sachs' European Pensions & Insurance Strategy Group to cover the Netherlands.

In Frankfurt Morgan Stanley has appointed Wolfgang Baumann from Towers Perrin to cover Cresswell's technical actuarial work for pension clients. His corporate relations will be absorbed into Philipp Lingnau's team.

Baumann will report to both Harald Ettle, head of Global Capital Markets in Germany, and Neville McKay, head of the bank's European Pensions Group in London.

Cresswell originally joined MSCI in 2001 after a short spell as a senior consultant and actuary with Dr Dr Heissmann GmbH of Wiesbaden and seven years with Towers Perrin in the UK.
