Mellon names new vice-chairmen
US - The board of directors at Mellon Financial has named Steve Canter, chairman and chief executive officer of Dreyfus, a subsidiary of Mellon, and Ronald O’Hanley, president of Mellon Institutional Asset Management, as vice-chairmen.
Canter and O’Hanley were both recently appointed to the company’s executive management group, which sets its strategies and policies.
“ This decision by the board underscores the importance of our asset management businesses and the depth of our management team,” says Martin McGuinn, chairman and chief executive officer at Mellon.
Before joining Dreyfus in 1995 as vice-chairman and chief investment officer, Canter had worked at Kleinwort Benson Investment Management Americas, Mitchell Hutchins Institutional Investors and Chase Investors Management.
As president of the asset management umbrella organisation, Mellon Institutional Asset Management O’Hanley is responsible for Boston Company Asset Management, Certus Asset Advisors, Franklin Portfolio Associates, Mellon Capital Management, Mellon Equity Associates, Mellon Bond Associates and Mellon Global Investments, the company’s non-US asset management group.
