BELGIUM – Vanguard Investments’ European operation has appointed Ian Alcock as its new managing director. Alcock replaces Frank Satterthwaite, who is moving back to the company’s Pennsylvania headquarters to head up its internal audit group.

Alcock is promoted to Vanguard Investments Europe’s Brussels headquarters from its Australian equivalent where he was responsible for its institutional investor business.

Alcock has over 25 years experience in the financial services sector, including stints at both UK and Australian-based pension funds and investment consultancies.

Satterthwaite returns to the US after four years at Vanguard Investments Europe. During this time the company’s European business has expanded and now has over €2.5bn under management. Its European client-base is made up mainly of pension funds and other institutional investors.
