FRANCE – Société Générale has named Alain Clot as deputy to SG Asset Management chairman and chief executive Philippe Collas.

Clot, 47, has been director of strategy at the French bank group since 1998. He joined Société Générale in 1982 and ran the UK trading room of SG UK from 1989 to 1993. From 1993-98 he was chief executive of SG Canada.

Collas has said that SGAM would “take the offensive” in terms of products, with a focus on alternative investments with the setting up of a separate alternatives subsidiary.

Clot will remain a member of the bank’s general management committee. SG Asset Management has 232 billion euros under management.
