UK – Schroders has appointed Miles O’Connor of Barclays Global Investors as head of sales and client servicing for UK pensions and corporates.

O’Connor was managing director of UK institutional business for six years. There he headed up UK pension fund business development and was responsible for client teams which serviced 30 billion pounds (44 billion euros) in assets. BGI would not comment as to whether he would be replaced.

At Schroders, O’Connor will report to Richard Mountford who is returning from Schroders Japan at the end of 2003 to head up the UK business.

The appointment of O’Connor to the new role comprises part of Schroders’ restructuring that was announced in September, said a spokeswoman. As part of the restructuring, Schroders' retail and institutional management divisions were combined. Richard Horlick now heads up the investment side, and Massimo Tossato heads up the distribution side for the two divisions.

As of end of June this year, Schroders had 90.4 billion pounds in assets under management.
