GLOBAL - State Street, Hermes, HSBC Actuaries & Consultants, MetLife, Sinopia AM, Alexander Forbes Trustee Services. F&C, New Star International, Barrie & Hibbert

State Street - David Puth has been appointed to the newly-created position of head of investment research, securities finance and trading activities worldwide and will join the company's operating group, State Street's strategy and policy-making team.

Hermes - Daniel Roff has joined the asset management firm as head of risk and quantitative solutions for fixed income, having previously been head of investment risk at Legal & General Investment Management. Officials are now in the "advanced stages" of recruiting his replacement at LGIM. London and Capital Group's Stuart Woodyatt has also been named as director of operational risk, having moved from his role as group risk manager.

HSBC Actuaries and Consultants - The firm's investment consultancy practice has seen several new appointments and changes, including the promotion of Dave Lyons to investment consultancy director and Barry Jones, Catherine Walkden and Jonathan Stoller to associate investment consultants. Alex Weiland has also left his role as head of investment at Gissings to become a senior investment consultant, focusing heavily on manager research. And John Franks has left he role as head of fixed income at the Cooperative Insurance Society to become an investment consultant.

MetLife - Dan DeKeizer has been promoted to chief executive of the insurer's UK pension liability transfer business. He was previously a senior executive at MetLife's new York-based retirement strategies group and prior to that was chief financial officer at MetLife Iberia. Emma Watkins has also been appointed as business development manager, to look after relationships with trustees, employers, scheme sponsors and benefits consultants.

Sinopia Asset Management - Alfred Yip will become chief executive of the Asia-Pacific  division at HSBC Global Asset Management ‘s quants specialist  on 1 October. He was previously chief investment officer of HSBC Insurance in
Asia-Pacific and has prior experience of working at the asset management firms.

Alexander Forbes Trustee Services - Darren Toms has been promoted to associate director, with specific responsibility for developing services at the company's defined contribution (DC) proposition, having previously been responsible for defined benefit pension scheme administration.

F&C Investments - Frank Henze is leaving Barclays Global Investors, where he was head of product development for iShares Europe, to join F&C as head of product development.

New Star - Greg Jones will become managing director of New Star's international fund business from 1 September, having joined the firm in 2001. He will be taking over some of Philip Goldsmith's responsibilities as he will  focus on France and Geneva and continue with his board and regulatory responsibilities in Hong Kong.

Barrie & Hibbert - John Hibbert, founder and director at the financial risk advisers, has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University.
