AEGON - Sarah Russell is set to replace Erik van Houwelingen as chief executive of AEGON’s global asset management business, effective 1 August. Prior to joining AEGON, Russell served as chief executive at ABN AMRO Asset Management. AEGON Asset Management was launched last year, combining AEGON’s asset management businesses in North America, Europe and Asia and managing more than €200bn in assets.

The Pensions Management Institute - Three new members have been elected to serve on the board of the Pensions Management Institute, an organisation that supports experts who run UK pension schemes. Geoff Ashton of Buck Consultants, Gerry Degaute of Royal Mail and former Education Secretary Anne Jones of Capita Hartshead have been elected to the council, while existing council member Susan Smith of Mercer has been re-elected. Three council members - Philippa James, Margaret Nesbit and Bob Richardson - have retired.

Frontier Capital Management - Colin Hodges has taken on the role of chief executive officer at Frontier Capital, having previously served as chief operating officer. Michael Azlen, who founded the company in 2004, will become executive chairman, while Marc Davies has been promoted to head of investments. Frontier said Davies would continue to manage the company’s multi-asset fund range.

Osmosis Investment Management - Rory Sullivan has joined Osmosis, a specialist asset manager focused on low-carbon investment, as head of Responsible Investment. Sullivan joins from Insight Investment, where he held a similar role.

Morningstar - Paul Kaplan has joined Morningstar Europe in the newly created role of quantitative research director. He was vice-president of quantitative research for Morningstar in Chicago before moving to London. Kaplan has more than 20 years of experience in investment fund research and analytics.

JLT Benefit Solutions - Martin Freeman has joined JLT Benefit Solutions, the fourth-largest pensions and employee benefits consultant in the UK, as head of Technology Product Strategy. Freeman will be responsible for developing strategy for employee benefit technology. One of his first jobs will be to launch Revelation, a new actuarial valuation system.

Faros Consulting - Oliver Dräger has joined from Towers Watson as senior investment consultant. He will be responsible for performance analysis and other areas in his new role.
