CSAM names Europe CEO, global bond head

GLOBAL – Credit Suisse Asset Management has made two senior appointments with Peter Roemer becoming chief executive for Europe and Dennis Schaney becoming global head of fixed income.

Roemer joins from CSFB where he was co-head of Germany and head of equities in Frankfurt. Prior to that, he worked for Deka where he was chief investment officer of equities. He was also head of equities for Deutsche Asset Management in Frankfurt.

He replaces Henry Wegmann, who left CSAM in June. Bob Parker, who has been acting as interim chief executive will resume his responsibilities as vice chairman and global head of institutional business.

As head of CSAM Europe, Roemer will report to Michael Kenneally, global chief executive of CSAM. He will also be a member of the global executive committee and the European executive committee of CSFB. His new role is based in Zurich.

Schaney joins CSAM from BlackRock Financial Management, where he was a managing director and founder of that firm's high yield business.

He will also report to Kenneally and will join CSAM's global executive committee.

"Dennis is a highly skilled fixed income professional with a strong track record of providing value to clients," Kenneally said. The role of global head of fixed income is a new one.

CSAM has three main investment areas: equities, alternatives and fixed income. With Schaney in place at fixed income and Jack DiMaio named chief executive of alternatives earlier this year, just the top equities position remains unfilled. CSAM says a global head of equities will be announced later this year.

Schaney joined BlackRock in 1998. Before that he spent nine years at Merrill Lynch, where he ran fixed-income research.
