UK – The European Network for Research on Supplementary Pensions is to hold a seminar in London about the best ways to increase pensions coverage.

The body is to hold a seminar entitled “Increasing Pension Coverage - Compulsion and Incentives” at the London School of Economics on Friday September 19 from 2.30pm.

“Governments throughout the developed world, not least in the UK, are looking for ways to ensure greater coverage of occupational or supplementary pension arrangements,” says organiser Bryn Davies of Union Pension Services. “The seminar will provide an opportunity to hear experts explain the initiatives that are being taken in different countries, both through compulsion and incentives.”

Speakers will include: John Turner of the AARP's ((the former American Association of Retired Persons) Public Policy Institute, Martin Rein of the Public Policy Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Simon Martin, head of research at Aon Consulting UK and Professor Heinz-Dietrich Steinmeyer, of the University of Münster in Germany.

Steinmeyer will discuss the German experience of introducing private pensions.
