UK- Mellon Global Investments (MGI), the distribution subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corporation, has appointed Threadneedle’s Alan Mearns as head of global marketing.

In his new role, he will be responsible for MGI’s complete global marketing activities. He will report to chief executive Jon Little and will join the MGI Executive Management Group and the MGI board.

At Threadneedle Mearns was marketing director responsible for the marketing strategy and distribution in the UK and Europe of their OEIC range, as well as driving the Threadneedle product range through Zurich group’s distribution.

At MGI, Mearns will develop and implement the global marketing strategy, with particular emphasis on expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This will include development of the Newton brand in the UK.

Prior to Threadneedle, Mearns spent eleven years at Fidelity Investments where he held a number of positions in the Far East, Australia and the UK.

London-based Mellon Global Investments Limited is the international distributor of the investment products of Mellon Financial Corporation’s 15 asset management subsidiaries.

Mellon has more than $2.8 trillion in assets under management, administration or custody, including $610 billion under management.
