Pension Consultants name new chairman

UK - The Society of Pension Consultants (SPC) has named Sir James Hodge as chairman to follow David Miers.

Miers is stepping down after more than eight years in the role. Sir James is a former diplomat and now member of the Central Council of the Royal Over-Seas League and a Deputy Chairman of Asia House. He is also an Advisor to the Mansion House Scholarship Scheme

"I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve as SPC Chairman," Sir James commented on his appointment.

"The whole question of pensions is now at the centre of public debate - rightly so, because what is involved is of vital importance to everyone."

The SPC represents accounting firms, solicitors, life offices, investment houses, investment performance measurers, consultants and actuaries, independent trustees and external pension administrators.

Elsewhere it emerged that Kathleen Jung, a member of the property research team at Hewitt has left the company yesterday.

Hewitt is currently searching for someone to replace Jung, a spokesman for Hewitt confirmed to IPE. Jung had joined the company in 2005 from Via Capital where she was fund advisor.

In a separate move, Aegon Asset Management has hired Nigel Loweth, the former director of consultant relations at Axa Investment Managers, as head of institutional sales.

His appointment at the Dutch insurance firm's UK-based fund management subsidiary comes as part of efforts to restructure the funds team under managing director Andrew Fleming.
