SWEDEN – Aon Consulting says its entry into the Swedish pension consulting market last year has prompted a lot of interest from customers and potential employees.

It said it has seen a “rapid expansion” and has recruited Magnus Gewert, 44, as a pension and benefit advisor to large Swedish and multinational companies.

“This is an area where Magnus has a strong and well established reputation, in both his previous roles as a management consultant and his present role as a pensions consultant,” said Mats Langensjo, managing director in Sweden.

Aon entered the market in September 2004 under Langensjo, formerly head of asset management at Goldman Sachs in the Nordic region and Ola Larson, former Nordic chief executive of Mercer Human Resource Consulting.

Aon said the “loss of public trust for the commission system and the whole insurance industry” has opened up the market. The outfit says it aims to be market leader by 2007.

Meanwhile, John Steele has been appointed as an external adviser to Aon Consulting’s HR services executive in the UK.

He would assist management with the strategic development and growth of the business, a statement said.
