EUROPE - The Environment Agency's £1.5bn (€1.9bn) Active Pension Fund has been named the best investor in environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues during Investment & Pensions Europe's ESG Leader Awards.

Other nominees in the category ‘Best Investor in ESG' were the British Telecom Pension Scheme and Pensam Liv.

The awards ceremony in Amsterdam last night also recognised the best ESG consultancy/research house, won by Innovest, and the most innovative development, a category won by Mercer.

United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) won the outstanding contribution to the development of ESG award, and Sustainable Asset Management (SAM) was named best asset manager investing in ESG.

The ESG Leader Awards on ESG issues from a finance and investment perspective
were launched last year, and are a joint initiative of IPE and the Triple Bottom Line Group (TBLI).
