REAL ESTATE - Morley has hired Paul van de Vaart from Stichting Penisoenfonds ABP to lead its real estate securities capability.

Morley said it was growing its pan-European securities and multi-manager capability and has hired Van de Vaart to head up the operation. It said he was responsible for €4.5 billion of property securities at the Dutch fund. He will be Morley's first dedicated property securities fund manager.

Morley has also hired Zoe Collier from Bloomberg Analytics. Van de Vaart and Collier will report to Nick Mansley, director of property strategy and indirect investment.

"We are very pleased with the appointments of both Paul and Zoe which underline Morley's commitment to growing our pan-European multi-manager and property securities business which is already over €3bn," Mansley said.

"Paul is one of Europe's leading property securities fund managers and comes with a track record of delivering strong absolute and relative performance. Zoe's strong background in analysis will add additional firepower to our multi-manager research capability.

"The boundaries between unlisted and listed indirect property investments are becoming increasingly blurred, notably by the growth of REITs, and clients are looking for pan-European ‘best ideas' that look across the indirect investment spectrum.

These appointments will play a significant role in ensuring we continue to deliver strong performance and top investment products to our clients"

Morley also named Martin Pattinson to its corporate pension funds team. It said he would be "responsible for the sale of Morley's full product range to the institutional market, primarily private sector employer-sponsored pension funds". He joins from HSBC Investments.
