The Brussels-based lobby group AEIP has appointed Simone Miotto as executive director to lead its lobbying activities in Brussels, IPE understands, with the move expected to be confirmed next week.

In addition to managing and coordinating the representation of AEIP, the European Association of Paritarian Institutions, at a European and international level, Miotto will be in charge of the organisation’s Brussels-based team of policy advisers, research activities and strategic planning.

Miotto is joining AEIP from PensionsEurope, which represents national associations of pension funds and similar institutions for workplace and other funded pensions. PensionsEurope has 25 members across Europe, representing workplace pensions for more than 110m people with a combined total of over €7trn of assets.

His experience at PensionsEurope made Miotto the ideal candidate for the role at AEIP, an advocacy organisation that represents at least 15 social protection institutions across 11 European countries.

AEIP’s members cover many aspects of workplace protection schemes, from pension funds to complementary insurance and unemployment benefit funds.
