GLOBAL - Dalriada Trustees, Xafinity, Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management, UBS, Schroders, Standish Mellon Asset Management

Dalriada Trustees - Andrew Mitchel, former company secretary at Scottish Power, has joined professional pension trustee Dalriada Trustees as a trustee representative. Mitchel, who has more than 20 years’ experience of pensions management and trusteeship, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries. He also served for a number of years as chair of trustees for the pension schemes in the ScottishPower group, including the Manweb group of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme.
 
Xafinity - Donald Campbell and Kenneth Auld have been recruited as senior consulting actuaries at Xafinity, a specialist pensions services and employee benefits group. Campbell joins from Mercer in Glasgow, where he was responsible for a number of trustee and corporate clients, while Auld joins from JLT in Edinburgh, where he served as a senior consulting actuary. Campbell and Auld will work with Xafinity’s teams in Belfast and Stirling, respectively.

Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management - Alexandre Touma has joined the French institutional sales team at Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management. He joined Robeco in 2005 to back up the institutional marketing and sales team before being put in charge of requests for proposal in 2006. In January 2008, he joined the institutional sales department dealing with retirement, financial institutions and companies. Edmond de Rothschild said Touma’s appointment was part of its plan to “reinforce its franchise” with French institutional clients.

UBS - Philip Lofts will be appointed chief executive of UBS Group Americas, while Maureen Miskovic will join as chief risk officer and member of the executive board, effective 1 January 2011. Robert Wolf will remain chairman of UBS Group Americas and president of the investment bank. Lofts was appointed group chief risk officer in November 2008. Miskovic served most recently as chief risk officer at State Street Corporation, where she was also a member of the operating group and chair of its major risk committee.

Schroders - Philippe Lespinard is set to join the asset manager in the newly created role of chief investment officer of fixed income, starting 1 November. Reporting to Karl Dasher, head of fixed income, Lespinard will be responsible for the global multi-strategy fixed income team and chair the global fixed income investment committee that covers all portfolios. Before joining Schroders, he was a partner and head of absolute return strategies at Brevan Howard in London. Before then, he served as CIO for BNP Paribas Asset Management in Paris and deputy chief executive at Fischer, Francis Trees and Watts. 

Standish Mellon Asset Management - Tom Higgins has joined as global macro strategist, while Rebecca Braeu has joined as macroeconomic analyst and portfolio manager for the company’s global fixed income team. Higgins arrives from Payden & Rygel, where he served as chief economist. Before then, he was managing director at Geoffrey Bell & Company. Braeu most recently served as economist and emerging market strategist at MFC Global Investment Management. Before then, she was an assistant professor of economics at California State University.
