GLOBAL - Vanguard, West Midlands PF, Unipension, First Actuarial, HR Trustees, Aberdeen, Groupama

Vanguard - Cees Bezuijen has joined the US-based asset manager Vanguard Asset Management as senior sales executive. Bezuijen, who is based in Vanguard’s Amsterdam office, started in his new role at the beginning of this month. Prior to joining Vanguard, Bezuijen was at KAS Bank, where he was most recently sales and business development director.

West Midlands Pension Fund - Brian Bailey has announced his retirement after 40 years’ service at Wolverhampton City Council, where he was director of pensions for the West Midlands Pension Fund. He has held a number of positions in his role for the fund, including an audit committee member of two private equity funds, honorary treasurer for the Local Authorities Pension Fund Forum and a trustee position at the Birmingham International Airport Pension Scheme. He will retire next year.

Unipension - Erik Adolphsen, chief executive at MP Pension/Unipension in Denmark, will leave the pension fund at the end of this month. Adolphsen, who has been succeeded by Christina Lage, joined MP Pension/Unipension in 2010 after he retired from Industriens Pension the year before. He will remain a board member at two other pension plans owned by PKA. Unipension hired Lage, Nordea Invest’s former chief executive, as its new managing director in early June.

First Actuarial - The pensions consultancy has promoted Kate Bailey - a qualified actuary who joined the firm in 2005 - to partner. HR director Hilary Salt said Bailey deserved recognition for the “unwavering commitment” she has shown over the last six years.

HR Trustees - The independent trustee firm has appointed Chris Bamford as director. Bamford is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and has more than 25 years’ experience in the pensions business. He joins from Aon Hewitt.

Aberdeen Asset Management - The company has recruited Christophe Palumbo to strengthen its business in the Benelux region. As a business development manager, Palumbo will be responsible for building relationships with financial institutions in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Before joining Aberdeen, he worked for almost four years for Carmignac Gestion.

Groupama Asset Management - Dario Carfizzi has left Eurizon Capital in Milan to join Groupama Asset Management as an institutional business development executive for the Italian Market. Carfizzi was senior portfolio manager and fund selector at Eurizon - formerly known as San Paolo Asset Management - in the multi-manager and asset allocation team.
