GLOBAL - Mercer, Catholic Super, BVI, Northern Trust, Pitmans Trustees, Quantum Advisory, Cevian Capital, Neuberger Berman, Union Bancaire Privée Asset Management

Mercer - Jimmy Johansen has been appointed head of the consultancy’s international consulting group in the Nordics and a member of the international leadership group for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has been with Mercer since 2003 as a senior consultant. In his new role, he will continue to act as global relationship manager for a number of Nordic-based clients. He takes over from Carl Westlund, who has become head of Mercer’s retirement, risk and finance business in the Nordics.

Catholic Super - Danyelle Guyatt is to join Catholic Super’s investment team following the Australian fund’s decision to establish a sustainability-themed component to its investment portfolio. Guyatt has been global head of research for the responsible investment business of Mercer Investment Consulting since 2007. She is expected to take up her position in September.

BVI - Thomas Richter has been promoted to director general at the BVI after Stefan Seip announced his decision to leave the German investment association at the end of June after almost 10 years at its head. Richter had joined the BVI as managing director in October from DWS. Seip’s contract would have expired at year-end, but he chose to leave the BVI sooner.

Northern Trust - Clive Bellows has been appointed country head for Ireland, based in Northern Trust’s Dublin office. He will also play a role in the integration of Bank of Ireland Securities Services. He joins from JP Morgan, where he was managing director with responsibility for EMEA asset managers and hedge funds. He has also worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, Deutsche Bank and Barclays International.
 
Pitmans Trustees - The independent trustee and governance services provider has expanded in the North of England with the appointment of Paul Ratcliffe to the Leeds office. He joins from Mercer and has also worked with Higham Dunnett Shaw and Bradford and Bingley. He has expertise in defined benefit and defined contribution schemes, as well as the transfer of schemes to the Pension Protection Fund.

Quantum Advisory - Senior actuary Robert Palmer, currently with Aon Hewitt, is set to head up the company’s Birmingham team from 1 July. Quantum has offices in Birmingham, Cardiff, London and Amersham and provides actuarial, investment, consulting and administration services to defined benefit and defined contribution clients.

Cevian Capital - Former City minister and Gartmore chairman Lord Myners is set to join European active-ownership fund manager Cevian Capital as head of UK operations and a partner - subject to regulatory approval by the UK Financial Services Authority. He has also served as chairman at Marks & Spencer, Land Securities and Guardian Media.

Neuberger Berman - The asset manager has appointed Matt Pumo as senior vice-president of UK institutional and European consultant relations. In this newly created role, Pumo will be responsible for developing consultant relations throughout Europe and promoting the company to UK institutional clients. He was previously head of consultant relations and UK business development at Gartmore and, before then, an institutional marketing manager at Liontrust.
 
Union Bancaire Privée Asset Management - Luca Trabattoni has joined as head of sales for Italy and Mediterranean countries, while Dominique Turin has joined as head of wholesale sales for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Trabattoni joins from Pictet & Cie in Milan, where he spent nine years. Turin joins from BNP Paribas Investment Partners, where he was a director of fund distribution for Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
