The UK-based Orbitex Exempt Balanced fund in the year to end 1999 has returned 154.17%, making it the best performing fund for the year against a Micropal mean of 21.75% for this universe of funds aimed at the UK institutional pension fund market.
This performance has been achieved through active management, a global sectoral asset allocation and successful stock picking in a concentrated portfolio, says fund manager Robin Geffen.
The fund runs a concentrated portfolio that means that stocks can give real outperformance to the fund rather than being diluted across 12000or more stocks, he says.
