AUSTRIA - The Austrian federal state Salzburg has announced it is looking to join a multi-employer pension fund for the local government staff.

A spokesman at Greco, the consultant involved in the tender procedure, told IPE today instead of setting up its own pension fund, Salzburg wants to join a pension fund model that can administrate the pension contributions and pay out pensions.

According to the spokesman, the multi-employer fund should preferably be Austrian, though Salzburg would also consider offers from foreign funds, though stressed fund managers should not apply.

Salzburg earlier already agreed to a pension fund model for the central works committee of its local hospitals, though none has been arranged yet for civil servants, he said.

In an official tender notice, the federal state said pensionskassen who want to participate in the tender procedure can apply until July 8.
