UK – Raj Thamotheram, senior adviser for responsible investment at the Universities Superannuation Scheme, is to join AXA Investment Managers.

AXA said he would join as director, responsible investment on June 1. He’ll head the responsible investment team, oversee policy issues and “broaden AXA IM’s thought leadership” in the area, a statement said.

He’ll report to the unit’s vice chairman Jean-Pierre Hellebuyck and be based in London.

Thamotheram, a well-known figure in the socially responsible investing arena, couldn’t immediately be contacted as he’s travelling.

USS investment chief Peter Moon was also not immediately contactable.

Thamotheram was instrumental in developing the Marathon Club and the Enhanced Analytics initiatives, AXA said.

Yesterday IPERealEstate.com reported that the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) UK Smaller Companies fund had acquired 5.9% of Bulgarian Land Development (BLD) in an initial bid for exposure to Eastern Europe.
