NETHERLANDS - Watson Wyatt's Stefan de Maar in an unusual move has switched from investment consulting to join the Dutch €11.7bn Doctors Pension Funds Services (DPFS).

The former financial manager at the venture capital fund PeachTree Film Capital and senior portfolio manager at ABN Amro Asset Management has joined the industry-wide pension fund as a senior portfolio manager at the beginning of this month.

De Maar joined the international consultancy firm's Dutch arm in October last year, after the firms bid to expand its Dutch investment consulting team - the firm has not found a replacement for him yet a spokesperson said.

Describing his experience with Watson Wyatt as a "valuable consultancy adventure", in an interview with IPE De Maar explained the move as a means of getting back into investment, something that interests him more than consultancy and to fulfil his need to be directly responsible for investment portfolios.
