SWITZERLAND – Swiss pension fund provider ABB Investment Foundation has appointed Boston-based fund manager, Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo (GMO), to run a new 70 million Swiss franc (47.8 million euro) emerging markets equity portfolio.

Management consultancy firm Towers Perrin assisted the six billion Swiss franc ABB foundation in the selection of a manager for the new mandate.

Says Erik Crawford, senior consultant at Towers Perrin: “We looked at 40 different firms of various styles and sizes for this search, and filtered those firms out for further consideration who showed the best balance between experience and performance, as well as quality and transparency of investment process.”

GMO (Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co.) is a privately owned investment firm managing over 20 billion dollars in assets.
