UK – Consulting firm Accenture has named Liberata’s John Spelman as business development director for pensions, a new role.

He will report to Ian Townsend, pension services manager at Accenture HR Services.

“John will lead the development of Accenture HR Services' Pensions Service, which provides administration services for defined contribution and defined benefit schemes,” Accenture said.

It currently serves more than 375,000 members and pensioners in more than 57 countries. Accenture HR Services has around 1,000 staff in the UK, out of a total worldwide payroll of around 2,500. It handles the pension administration for phone firm BT and its O2 offshoot.

"We are delighted John has joined our team,” said Kevin Wildman, chief sales officer at Accenture HR Services. “He brings an outstanding track record in pensions and HR and his appointment is a real demonstration of our absolute commitment to this important marketplace."

Spelman was previously at Liberata, an outsourcing firm that was demerged from Deloitte, where he headed business development for pensions and human resources.
