EUROPE - More details have emerged about a meeting set to take place next week at the European Parliament aimed at resolving some of the questions about the transposition of the European directive on occupational pension funds.

The meeting is being organised by the European Pension Fund Forum on Wednesday.

Speakers at the meeting will include MEPs, representatives from the Commission as well as industry associations.

EPPF chairman Ieke van den Burg, a Dutch MEP, will welcome the participants. Austria's Othmar Karas, who was the rapporteur for the directive, will provide the Parliament's view.

Ivo van Es, the European Commission's DG Internal Market administrator on pensions, who is in charge of the directive follow-up, will also speak.

Other speakers include Mihaly Erdos, chairman of the pension committee of CEIOPS, the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors. Chris Verhaegen, secretary-general of the European Federation for Retirement Provision will provide the market participants' view.

There will then follow a session moderated by IPE's Daniel Brooksbank.
