UK – Law firm Allen & Overy has promoted pension specialist associate Dana Burstow to partner in its London office.

Burstow, who joined the firm in 1993, is one of the four partners leading the firm’s 20 strong pension group in London and one of the 21 new partners throughout the firm’s network offices in Europe Asia and the US.

The firm’s 40-strong global pensions group has also hired senior pensions lawyer Giannis Waymouth, who joined the international firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in January.

“With pensions issues firmly on the agenda, Ms Burstow’s combined pensions and employment experience positions her well to provide pragmatic advice to both scheme trustees and employers,” said Allen & Overy.

Burstow‘s main duties include advising trustees of occupational pension schemes and employers about all pension related legal issues.

She has recently been involved in exercises to merge multiple pension schemes together.

“Dana combines both pensions and employment capabilities which enables her to give informed and pragmatic advice on pensions matters within the context of employment law, for example in relation to changing pension benefits,” said a spokesman.

Partner Maria Stimpson said:” We are delighted Dana has received the recognition that she deserves as a first rate practitioner.”

Stimpson also said that the Allen and Overy’s London office could name a fifth partner in the next couple of years.
