UK - Brian Smith, former pensions and international benefits executive at drinks firm Allied Domecq, has set up on his own.

He was made redundant by the firm, formerly the second largest global spirits and wine company, after it was taken over by Pernod Ricard last year.

"I am now a sole trader focusing on pensions consultancy," Smith said from his home in Somerset.

Paris-based Pernod Ricard owns key brands such as Chivas Regal, Jameson, Martell, Jacob's Creek, Mumm and Perrier-Jouët.
