**Mellon appoints European corporate affairs head*
UK/EUROPE – Jan Altink has been appointed director of corporate affairs for Europe by Pittsburgh based Mellon Financial Corporation.
Altink is to head up Mellon Global Investments in London, the non-US asset management division, as well as communication activities during European expansion. His most recent position was with Deutsche Bank in London as senior marketing and corporate communications executive.

**Scottish Widows source human resources**
UK – Lynne Wood joins Edinburgh based Scottish Widows Investment Partnership as head of human resources (HR) and will be responsible for all personnel matters.
She was previously head of HR, which she helped develop into a key element of the business, at Murray Johnstone.

**Orbitex appoints UK regional sales director**
UK – James Haupt joins London based Orbitex Investments as director of regional sales, responsible mainly for UK fund sales in London and South East England.
He was previously regional sales director at Close Finsbury Asset Management.

**Buxton to Schroders**
UK – Richard Buxton will join Schroders in London as director of its specialist UK equities division from September after heading up UK equities at Barings for the past year.

**Morley’s new appointments**
UK – London based Morley fund Management has made three new appointments.
Amy Chamberlain joins the Corporate Research team as investment analyst for the media sector.
She previously covered media at Scudder Stevens and Clark/Zurich.
Steven Choy takes up the newly created position of chief executive officer of Morley Fund Management (Singapore), having previously worked for CGU Asia in Singapore.
Julian Murray has been appointed to the Socially responsible Investment team, joining from Deutsche Asset Management global strategy team.

**Morgan Stanley promotes Alvarez**
UK – Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) has appointed Emilio Alvarez as global equity analyst to work primarily on US equities with MSIM’s London based research co-operative.
Alvarez joined MSIM as a sell-side equity analyst in 1991.

**ING expansion benefits Trip**
NETHERLANDS – Director of Amsterdam based ING Real Estate Development, Paul Trip, has been appointed to the general management of ING Real Estate.
The appointment reflects the ever expanding nature of ING’s real estate activities.

**Baring make new appointments**
UK – Jan Mantel has been appointed director and head of Baring’s UK and Europe investment team in London, creating a unified research and management structure for its UK and European equity products. He most recently worked as a consultant for Merrill Lynch.
US - Catherine Roy joins Baring Asset Management’s Boston based US division as a fixed income portfolio manager from Zurich Scudder Investments. She will be a member of the Core Plus Asset Allocation Team, focusing on the management of the existing institutional client base.

**Aon reshuffle**
UK – Jenny Ward, principal at Aon Consulting Australia, has been appointed head of the company’s London based UK communications practice, following the move of predecessor Graham Forest-Jones’ to the newly formed in-house position of director of corporate affairs.
