UK - Aon Consulting has hired Paul Macro from Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow to head its defined contribution consulting business.

Macro will have national role across Aon's seven UK offices and be responsible for further developing Aon's services to DC clients. He will report to professional practice head Donald Duval.

Aon said he joins from Hewitt Bacon & Woodrow’s Leeds office.

"Paul's appointment will allow us to further develop our DC consulting capability and will strengthen the service we offer to both existing and future clients,” said Aon Consulting managing director Robert Middleton.

“It is an exciting time for the DC market and we plan to take advantage of these conditions to further grow the business," Macro said.

Last month Aon awarded Martin Currie a 27 million-pound European (ex-UK) equity mandate as part of its multi-manager programme.

And on September 30 parent firm Aon Corp. said it was implementing a “ management succession plan” to find a replacement for president and chief executive Patrick Ryan. Ryan, 67, will continue as CEO until a successor.
