The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is reviewing the future of its custody and investment administration business, RBS Trust Bank. Trust Bank was formed in 1997 when RBS bought the custody and investor services division of SBC Warburg, and now has over £300bn of assets under administration. Recently there has been speculation over a possible merger or acquisition, and RBS has admitted it is looking at selling all or part of Trust Bank, but no decisions have been made yet.
