NETHERLANDS - Jacqueline Lommen has joined Robeco from Aon Hewitt's Amsterdam office and will be responsible for overseeing the expansion of the company's activities in the European pension market, IPE can confirm.

Lommen left the consultancy in June after three years and joined Robeco as senior vice-president of business development for European pensions.

In her previous role, she was actively involved in establishing and running a number of cross-border pension schemes, as well as advising both corporates and governments on their IORP strategies.

Robeco has filed an application with Dutch pensions regulator De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) to launch a Premium Pension Institution (PPI), a new cross-border vehicle for which insurer Delta Lloyd has a licence.

Speaking with IPE in May, Lommen noted that PPIs would be able to operate with fewer legal requirements and carry fewer risks because, being defined contribution schemes, they would not offer the same level of guarantees as traditional defined benefit arrangements.

In her 25 years in the pensions industry, Lommen has held a number of positions, including that of senior adviser in the DNB's department of supervisory policy.

She joined the regulator in late 2005, having worked at Aegon.

In the past, she has also been a member of the occupational pensions committee of the Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Supervisors, which has since become the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.
