UK – Aon Consulting has named Ian McKinlay as head of its investment practice.

Aon spokeswoman Nessa Kearney said the move was “with immediate effect”. McKinlay had been acting head of the team since January following Adrian Swales’ move to head Aon’s asset management activities.

Separately, Insight Investment said it has hired Alvar Chambers, a principal in Aon Consulting's investment consulting practice. Kearney said she didn’t know who would replace him.

Insight said Chambers would join in August as a specialist portfolio manager to focus on developing and managing liability-driven investment strategies for insurance clients.

The firm said Chambers, 34, chairman of the investment committee of the Association of Consulting Actuaries and a member of the Institute of Actuaries' working party on liability related benchmarks and unconstrained investment.

"Alvar brings with him considerable technical and practical experience that will be invaluable in helping us to meet our clients' expectations in this important and growing area," said Andrew Giles, managing director of financial solutions at Insight.

Insight, part of HBOS, has 71.8 billion pounds in assets under management.
