NETHERLANDS - APG has named Angelien Kemna as its new CIO according to a statement issued this morning by organisation, which manages the assets of the €180bn ABP pension fund.

She will replace Roderick Munsters, who is to join the Rotterdam based asset manager Robeco as CEO at the beginning of September.

Kemna held leading positions at ING Investment Management (ING IM) for a number of years, first as global chief investment officer and then as CEO for ING IM Europe, and has been called the most powerful woman in the Dutch finance sector.

Kemna left ING IM in 2007 and has been professor in corporate governance at the Erasmus University (School of Economics) in Rotterdam. She will retain her professorship at the Erasmus School of Economics.

According to Dick Sluimers, CEO of APG, Kemna was an attractive candidate not only because of her experience but also because of her views on sustainability and governance in the investment policies of institutional investors, and on the important role in society of the collective pension system.

"She will be strong in both areas as CIO of APG," said Sluimers in the statement.
