UK – The head of Barclays Global Investors in Europe is to chair index company FTSE’s policy group.
FTSE said that it has named Lindsay Tomlinson, chief executive of Barclays Global Investors Europe, as chairman of the FTSE Policy Group.
The body “reviews the ongoing management of all FTSE indices and advises FTSE Group on strategic index and investment related issues”.
David Hobbs, global head of passive investment at UBS Global Asset Management, is named chairman of the FTSE’s equity indices committee and will act as Tomlinson’s deputy.
Eric Shirbini, head of equity research database at BNP Paribas, becomes chairman of the FTSE Europe committee.
All the appointments are on a voluntary basis.
FTSE chief executive Mark Makepeace said: “The three new chairmen have extensive experience both as a market practitioners and as FTSE committee members and they will ensure that all FTSE indices continue to meet the constantly evolving needs of the investment market.”
BGI is the largest manager of European pension fund assets.
