UK – Partha Dasgupta, head of asset/liability management at Barclays Global Investors, has joined the new Pensions Protection Funds as director of investment and finance.

“As director of finance and investment, Partha Dasgupta will direct and oversee the management of the Pension Protection Fund's assets, investments, finances and levy arrangements,” the Department for Work and Pensions said. Dasgupta also becomes a member of the PPF’s board.

"I am delighted that the Pension Protection Fund has attracted such a high calibre individual,” said PPF chief executive Myra Kinghorn.

“Partha brings a wealth of skills, experience and expertise that will enable us to establish the Pension Protection Fund as an efficient and effective organisation."

Dasgupta spent 10 years at BGI, most recently as managing director of fixed income in Europe and head of asset/liability management. A BGI spokesman was not sure if he would be directly replaced.

The PPF opens its doors to business on April 6.
