UK - Blacket Research is launching a free online service for pension schemes called the Fund Manager Barometer within the next few weeks.
It said the service monitors how successful asset managers are at getting on investment consultants’ shortlists – and how they convert those opportunities into mandate wins.
It reviews the shortlist appearance of managers over the previous 12-18 months, their conversion rate, and ranking among other competing managers.
“The information acts as a ‘barometer’ of the confidence that the marketplace has in each fund manager and will complement the past performance data that pension schemes currently monitor,” Blacket said.
“Past performance is often the catalyst for changing fund managers, yet these decisions should be based on expectation rather than just history,” said managing director Roger Brown.
“The Barometer will provide pension schemes with a consistent and quantifiable report on the industry’s view of their fund manager.”
He added the firm already has data for more than 100 managers and counting.
“The more data we have the more comprehensive the service will be for participating schemes.”
